Young Founder TidyTown
My name is Maurice.
I am the founder of TidyTown.
I started TidyTown because I wanted to create an event where kids and young people can make a real difference in their communities.
Before TidyTown, my dad and I used to play something we called the “Rubbish Game.”
We would walk around our neighbourhood for one hour and try to find as much litter as possible. At the end, we weighed the bags and the person who collected the most rubbish won.
Then I had an idea.
What if we turned the Rubbish Game into something bigger?
Instead of a competition, it could become a team effort where everyone works together to make our neighbourhood cleaner and nicer for everyone.
That’s how TidyTown was born.
TidyTown is not about winning.
It’s about teamwork, community spirit, and showing that even small hands can make a big difference.
It would make me very happy if TidyTown encourages other kids to get involved, express themselves, and see that they have the power to contribute to something positive.
TidyTown is a movement where young people lead by example and help create a Better Brisbane.
